Comments on "Our Words are Killing Us," Huffington Post, March 2006.

Lorraine Redig, Winona, MN:

You asked for contributions to the meaning of words. Here's mine:

Activist - patriotic citizen participating in our self government as is required of all citizens of a democracy in order to keep it "of the people"

Citizenship. Privilege. full member of our republic

Conservatives - Living the religious lifestyle of an idol worshipper, by competing to seek and defend self interest . This is the opposite of living the religious Golden Rule lifestyle of a disciple of God, our loving Creator such as Christians, Judaism, Moslems and others try to do.

Conservatives promote "old fashioned values" such as greed. Their religion is unconstitutionally supported, promoted and defended by our government. The economy and politics are based on this religion that worships profits or whatever idol people choose. It claims to NOT be a religion.

Competition is to Conservatives who seek self interest over the common good as the Golden Rule is to Godly people who seek the common good over special interests.

Democracy--Living the Golden Rule lifestyle

Free trade - dog eat dog competition to extend seeking and defending self interest to the world in search of paying customers they haven't yet robbed into poverty.

Minimum wage - less than human rights level wage made legal.

Pro-life = respect for life from conception to natural death and all the days between. Anything less is not pro-life. "Pro-life" before birth and throw them to the wolves after birth is not pro-life, it is anti-abortion.

America is lost in a gnarled thicket of bought politicos, corporate con men and media hucksters. But we're lucky: Lappé has drawn the map that will get us out alive. Read it and get going.
